The Great Deep
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life..were all the fountains of the great deep broken up and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. Gen 7:11
This event changed everything in the ecosystem. Before the flood of Noah’s time the planet’s growth life was sustained by a dense dew. No rain.
Gen2: 6
But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
How were the rivers and oceans recycled before is a matter for scientific discussion but after the flood the rains initiated the rejuvenating of the water cycle that exists today.* This was enabled by the much greater abundance of water that remained on the earth after the flood. How? Where did the extra water come from? Have you ever asked “What’s on the other side of the universe?”
Gen 1:6-7
And God said let there be a firmament (expanding universe) in the midst of the waters (H2O in alternate forms: solid, liquid, gas, even Hydrogen) and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament.
The firmament is the universe, the expanse. Energy. God then took all the water this side of the universe and placed it on the earth and called it the seas or oceans [Gen 1:9-10]. So what’s on the other side of the universe? Water. Whatever form of H2O that may be.
The CBN Bible concordance describes the firmament: [ raqiya] the expanse; a vault of heaven supporting waters above. When the windows (vault) were opened massive amounts of water came down from heaven. That is what drastically flooded the earth and increased the total amount of water on the planet.
Gen 7: 18
The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth…
The great deep is not under the ocean but above the heavens.
Psalm 148:4
Praise him ye heaven of heavens and ye waters above the heavens.
Proverbs 3:20
By his knowledge the depths are broken up and the clouds drop down the dew.
Gen8:1-2
...and God made a wind to pass over the planet earth and the waters subsided.**
The fountains of the deep (water on other side of firmament) and the windows of heaven***were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.
Proverbs 8:28
...he established the clouds above (see Gen 9:13-17 the covenant of the rainbow) when he strengthened the fountains of the deep. (closed the window)
The rains ended with the closing of this portal in the heavens and the great flood ceased and slowly subsided.
With this understanding Genesis 7:11 should read:
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life the windows of heaven were opened and all the fountains of the great deep were broken up allowing water to form massive amounts of rain for forty days and forty nights.
How far through space this water traveled is not clear but scientists have discovered that comets are made of ice and they don’t know where they came from. There is a large comet belt on the other side of Jupiter. Scientists can find all the water they want on other planets or star systems and it wouldn't surprise me. God gave us the explanation along time ago in Genesis.
*The continual movement of water around the globe is known as the hydrologic cycle. Several processes take place within this cycle, including evaporation, condensation, precipitation, runoff and collection. During the cycle, water will change form many times.
**The most recent ice age north of the equator which is how the creatures could’ve walked off the ark at such a high elevation as Mt. Arafat.
***windows of heaven: An energy source field that can open from anywhere above to that particular area or dimension.
****Hydrogen: Electrolysis of water is the decomposition of water (H2O) into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2) due to an electric current being passed through the water.This technique can be used to make hydrogen fuel (hydrogen gas). Scientists discovered that Hydrogen is the building block of the Universe in 1925. God told Moses that fact in Genesis 3500 years ago.
